Jesus Shirt 03:04
He breaks a habit for oldtimes sake, and prays to a god the size of a cake. If you give him a dollar, then he'll leave you alone Just don't plan on ever hanging up the phone Picking out his clothes for broad daylight Strapping on his boots and he's ready to fight You don't swear with your Jesus shirt on do you hometown boy? Not a care in the world when you've got a cross stapled on and ready to deploy When sunday comin, he asks around it's ten days past mari gras and a mile past town Well I left my nice suit back in new orleans But I don't know where to find a good pair of jeans Pickin out his clothes for broad daylight Strappin' on his boots and he's ready to fight You don't swear with your Jesus shirt on, do you hometown boy? Not a care in the world when you've got a cross, stapled on and ready to deploy

Tough Words 04:13
Tonight can't we agree the world we tread on is a sphere? No it don't matter to me but it pulls life's edges so near The corners drag themselves towards my heart Oh why does my left brain tear us apart? Girl, forgive my quickness and spite My tongue that runs so quick to bite It flees from love, It's more than enough To start my demise No-my words ain't tough Tomorrow won't we hear, the hometeam chanting "victory"? What a sweet drink to my ears, we'll file up and run a story For the captain coach of our team Thank God that it took that light off of me Girl, forgive my quickness and spite My tongue that runs so quick to bite It flees from love, It's more than enough To start my demise No-my words ain't tough Break the lust that pulled me through No, it pulled my bones and hair and you Left quite a mess for the rest of the best Thank God You break us with glue Thank God You break us with glue

Preachin' 03:43
I had a dream that Joel Olsteen was preachin' to the choir He began to scream to the hippie scene that all the little kids were dyin' and they got bored since they'd heard it all before they pulled out their phones and spent seven million dollars texting Why can't we all be a little more like Mama T? Givin' up our gross riches Just to save the lungs of a little 3-year-old girl She belongs in this world just as much as you and me He began to shout that "there's absolutely no doubt that a free man's really free if he's hungry!" Then the parents stood and left while the rich through their camels away and the homeless cried out, "Hey, come check out our needles!"

Well, I was walking through the desert, saw the white sand My bones could feel the heat sucking water from land When my throat was so dry, I couldn't scream, "Gimme Hell's Gun!" that's The Day I Saw the Sun That's The Day I Saw the Sun That's The Day I Saw the Sun That I saw the sun I kept my eyes glued down to my feet I tried my hardest not to miss a beat I walked in rhythm hopin' not to repeat The way all my falls had begun yeah, That's The Day I Saw the Sun That's The Day I Saw the Sun That's The Day I Saw the Sun That I saw the sun I made the simple mistake of turning my head down and facing the ground again When I had one easy choice, well finally my gut decided to kick in And I looked higher and higher, higher and higher...

Cell 29-D 02:42
They say there's no room in prison for instability Just a padded room where a loon makes no attempt at remembering But where's the home for the one who couldn't hurt a single fly It's not that she wouldn't try, it just it hurts too much to comply I fell in love with cell 29-D Yeah, I fell in love with cell 29-D She sat there, quietly playing all her games Shriveled and hurting, didn't know my name She did before but that was - oh so long ago And we both know things aren't the same, and that'll never grow

Your comfortable insomnia is overcome by swelling dread Lying wide-eyed in your bed You know the answer's right next to your head There's nothing you can do about that glare Son please listen, you're not going crazy, it's just because He Cares Can't you believe? I'm not here to deceive He'll be all you need He wants your love, he don't want you to bleed You asked for that book, It'll take all you mistook Shake you around, Make you sound enough To stare at the sun again It's the triumph of love and the reason you're drawn to the glow It's an understanding that runs deeper than just saying that you know When you finally lose your sight You won't worry about a bite Cause today son, it's all good and right It's good and right its time to pack your bags, it's finally time to fight Can't You Believe?
7.
I know that things are kind of rough And most of the time, you like act tough But I know your heart is just as easily crushed as mine Which means I understand that you're not doing fine Why does she play with your heart, with your heart? Oh, can't she tell that she hurts you with every breath. I know how hard it makes life Dealing with a heavy stomach each day Bending over backwards All to squeeze out a bit of love for her to pay
8.
Yesterday I took the time to shut my eyes and wished I could walk back to the day yours moved in mine I just hunched over with my nose against a desk that felt so cold and homeless I nearly lost my breath What use is my existance without function When a month gone leaves me fonder I can't feel anything, but sick today All I ever wanted seems taken away It rings true of love when I'm crying Over remembering what you feel like I know its infatuation crying over not holding your hand for such a short expanse of time No my bed doesnt give me rest just a time to quit thinking about you Unless you think its true, that while we sleep so far away -- we're alone us two Come this way Life points this way It tingles on my fingers this way Because you're back where you belong Here between my arms And smilin' because Love is Patient Love is patient girl I said Love is patient Love is Patient Love is patient, girl
9.
Here this historic question comes again How can I know that the sun will rise again? There's only seven days in any given week But winter always comes back when the earth tilts its cheek Why do you keep it that way? You don't have to keep it that way You don't even have to stay Why do you keep it that way? Thanks for keeping it that way At any moment you could choose to tear my oustides in But you chose to keep your places the way they've always been Even when I spat on your toes in my sin You offered me your grace to dwell within You are by far the reliable one of all I've met You know the steps that I walk and the moments I regret You made me whole when you took all I was and paid my debt You are the most steadfast of all, this I pray I wont forget
10.
What's this happen inside our little world? I just sat back thinking I could twirl my favorite girl Round and round, back and forth, without a cause or motivation It's hard to glance at you now, I know I'll lose my concentration You know we need a little bit of heartbeak to make it easy to understand what We've got to do to just pull through when times gone by and we want something new You kno we need a little bit of heartbreak to make it easy to understand what We've got to do to just pull through when times gone by and we want something new You know we need a little bit of heartbreak You know we need a little bit of heartbreak Come on everybody, just believe its true I don't want to deicde between a girl or two I just want to step far back and see oh how blue The earth looks deep in space and why I get to live I don't deserve an inch at all, but a miles what I'll give You don't deserve to get your beating heart broken in two Same as the one I love deserves some sort of life that's new But sometimes the things we need are far from what does please Like a ten ton truck or piano on some monster of disease
11.
Why am I so easily comforted? And so easily deceived Into thinking that only half my troubles even matter Only half should be grieved Why do I work so so hard? To break myself out of these fits All the while I grew twice as wrong All the while I was breaking my friends Breaking them into twice as many bits I've made some fat mistakes, I'll admit it When the bullet flew by I couldn't say that I bit it That I bit it Because you all stood still and it just knocked you down I know that I should get kicked outta this town Because you all stood still and it just knocked you down I know that I should get kicked outta this town There's something selfish, I'm pretty sure its greed Turning our town lazy I can't hide the fact that it takes me awhile to chalk up the nerve to serve my fellow man By the end of the day this city will lose its bill that makes it crazy I've been known as the man who broke ten hearts Kissed them and tossed them on the floor I gave myself, my friends and my God a bad name But only He can fix the ten thousand names I've been called before Why does this world seem so serene on the surface when we all know what lies beneath our skin We all grew up watching love and hate duke it out But while hate drinks it up its quite certain that loves going to win
12.
The Free Man 02:57
There's been times when I gotta know There's been times I can't learn from show All the wisdom in the world is no use to me My mind runs dry, I can't explain what I see So teach me by hurting me And show me the way by loving me I've got the faith you know Its the way to make me free It's pounded my head from the left and from the right I keep on hearing it but there's no point tonight Let's put it off the world hears me say I know I've missed out on so much today
13.
Well when you take away all your makeup and fashion All your shades and lights The contrast not and beauty salon And the music that makes your heart so fuzzy When you pull back the rug and uncover the dirt And when you put your eyes on the coffin instead of birth and you smash the blurry portrait bathed in elegance On your plastered biltmore wall Wipe away the smile that took a long while Just to force them all the way up your neck When you lose your dollars and cents and eyeliner Your facade of love thats only overshadowed by your facade of apathy What are you left with?
